Perks

RFA provides professional education through its General Meetings, held quarterly at the Friday Center with a luncheon, speaker and timely and interesting educational programs. Recent speakers included Dr. Christian Iliadis, professor of physics and astronomy; Todd Nicolet, the University’s first vice provost for digital and lifelong learning; and Bill Ferris, the Joel R. Williamson Eminent Professor of History Emeritus and a pre-eminent folklorist of the American South.
Another important benefit of membership is representation on the Faculty Council. The RFA nominates two members of Faculty Council to represent retired faculty, who then are elected by all retired faculty who have registered with the Office of Faculty Governance.
Your delegates are voting members of the council. We also serve as guests on Faculty Council committees, and submit resolutions on your behalf. In the years in which a delegate’s term is expiring, all RFA members will receive a ballot by email in early April to fill the vacancy.
